QR or card? Compare the actual cost

QR is a payment method; its exchange rate depends on how you fund the bolivianos and on the provider. Use the final USD amount shown by your app, or its BOB/USD rate and fees. We compare the same BOB purchase with a card billed in USD.

How to compare QR and card

  1. Enter the purchase price in bolivianos.
  2. For QR, copy the final USD total shown by your app. If you only have a rate, choose BOB/USD and enter fees separately.
  3. For the card, use a current estimated reference or enter your rate. Add your FX fee and any fixed charge.
  4. Compare both USD totals. Fewer USD for the same purchase means a lower cost.

There is no single QR exchange rate. A QR paid from a BOB balance does not convert currency at scan time: to compare in USD you need the cost of funding that balance. Do not substitute a BCB rate for your app or card rate. The card reference is an estimate and your issuer may settle at a different rate.
